Yellow Fever

Yellow Fever is caused the yellow fever virus, But why is it called Yellow? It is because of the jaundice that affects the victims of this illness. 

It is transmitted from a genre of the female Aedes mosquito 


Yellow fever has two phases, The fist stage is non-fatal, while the second stage is fatal. But, fortunately only 15% of victims reportedly go into the Second phase 

First Phase Symptoms 

muscle pain with prominent backache, shiver headache fever, shivers, nausea or vomiting and loss of appetite. As said above this phase is non-fatal patients improve and these symptoms disappear after 3 to 4 days. 

Second Phase Symptoms 

This happens just 24 hours after the first phase symptoms have disappeared. 
First the Fever returns and the body systems are affected . Patient develop jaundice rapidly and also of abdominal pain which is accompanied with vomiting. Bleeding might occur from the eyes, mouth, stomach or nose. Immediately this occurs, blood appears in in the vomit and excreta. The functions of the kidney slows down. This phase is deadly as half of the patients who enter it die with 10 to 14 days, the rest 50% recover without notable organ damages. 

Is it a Threat  

Since only 15% of its victims go into the deadly second phase, yellow fever is not a formidable threat.

But, it is still not to be taken likely as that 15% is a very large number when compared with a large scale of infected people.

There is no known cure for yellow fever, it can only be prevented and vaccination is the best way to protect yourself from getting infected. But there is also something you can do to protect yourself from this deadly disease.

Use mosquito sleeping nets
Clear bushes and stagnant water and all possible mosquito breeding places
