One or two drinks of alcohol a day have been proven to provide some health benefits in one way or the other, while alcohol seems to be making a perfect score in some areas it might not be the same in the bedroom, in fact, it could be hindering your sexual prowess

If you live here in Nigeria, then it wouldn't be a surprise to you when I say that many guys tend to consume a lot of booze before going down to the main issue of the day (having sex).

This is completely normal due to the fact that alcohol can boost your confidence in a jiffy and also make you last longer in bed. 

So how does it really do that? 

As the amount of alcohol in the blood increases, the alcohol decreases the brain’s ability to sense sexual stimulation.

As a depressant, alcohol directly affects the penis by interfering with parts of the nervous system that are essential for sexual arousal and orgasm, including respiration, circulation, and sensitivity of nerve endings, according to Health Promotion at Brown University.

This might sound like good news to most guys who love to drown themselves in alcohol and have a long night of shagging, but there is also a downside

Excessive drinking is a common cause of erectile dysfunction. 

This is because alcohol can dehydrate the body, decreasing blood volume while increasing the hormone associated with erectile dysfunction — angiotensin.

So drowning yourselves in several bottles of booze to enhance your sexual performance is certainly a bad idea. 

Instead drink in moderation. 

The National Institute on Alcohol Abuse and Alcoholism defines moderate drinking as no more than two drinks a day for men, and one drink a day for women.
