4 Common Dirty Habits You Must Stop Practicing Before 2018




Looking through 2017, I would say it was a positive year for me with big achievements. 

I walked into 2017 with a book full of plans, goals, and expectations and I can say I am walking out of it fulfilled (well, almost). Unlike last year where I flopped most of my plans due to laziness (can't blame me really), this year, I got to meet many great people, develop myself personally and best of all, I did away with my bad habits.

2018 is just a few days away and I'm sure you have already written down their new year revolutions, expectations and whatever you hope to achieve next year. But before you go ahead with that, here are some dirty habits I have noticed that most people can't do away with that you have to really put aside. 




1. Nose Picking

This simple habit might be causing you more than you know. 

Like seriously, I don't think there is anyone who hasn't ever stuck a finger up his/her nose just to get rid of the mucus in there. Worse of all, you don't just wipe it off with a handkerchief or wash your hands, you simply wipe it on your clothes and be on your way. 

If you want to walk into 2018 a new creature and want all things to be passed away then you have to stop this habit.

Picking your nose probably won't kill you, but it's not exactly a healthy habit either. Not only does picking your nose look disgusting, it could be leaving the door open for dangerous bacteria that want to call your nose home, especially if you are one of those who barely cleans up afterward. 

Nose picking could probably cause abrasions and tiny amounts of bleeding within the nose, now that might not pose a serious problem, but the germs from your hands can get into your nostrils and cause a respiratory infection and that becomes a big problem. 




2. Fingernail Biting 

Biting your fingernails is much worse than nose picking because it's much harder to get rid of this habit and it comes with graver consequences. 

Nail biting might seem like an incurable habit to you and most people would frown at me if you I say it could cause you one infection or the other but you have to always be careful. 

It turns out that nail biting can go from just a bad habit to a health hazard. Increasing your risk of catching a cold, infection or other illness especially for if you're putting your unwashed hands in your mouth. 

But that's not all about nail biting, it can also kill you

40-year-old John Gardener from England was a chronic nail biter and it killed him 

According to reports, he contacted septicemia because the skin around his fingernails was constantly open to the point of bleeding. The blood infection (septicemia) affect his heart and triggered a heart attack which killed him. 

Garnder also suffered from anxiety and depression, he was also a diabetic. His general practitioner also said that his nail-biting habit made him lose all feeling and sensation in his fingertips. 

I don't think you should have to wait for a heart attack before you give up nail biting for good.




3. Blowing Your Nose With Your Fingers

What comes next after blowing your nose with your fingers is actually worse, some people either wipe their hands on their clothes, walls or other surfaces, while others just rub their fingers together till it drys out.

Hope this dirty habit wouldn't go with you into 2018. 




4. Not Washing After Urinating

Do you really need to wash your hands after peeing? 

Take it from me, you really do. You are not just washing your hands because it is a good habit, you are also doing it to get rid of whatever disease you got while using the bathroom.

According to WebMD.com 80 percent of infectious diseases are spread by touch and those diseases are everywhere especially on your germ-ridden doorknob, then you could go ahead infecting everyone you touch and the food you eat. 

2018 is a year of improvement, so don't be the same lazy person who can't get his hands clean, wash up.
